"In a world that contains so much uncertainty, I believe our inner spirits are seeking to understand the fragile life that surrounds us each day, hoping for understanding and peace. As each of us embraces another with our passion, our words, and our personal vision of hope, a closer harmony of our inner spirits can be created. Each moment in our lives is a precious gift to be cherished and I strive to enhance the perceptions of others to witness the beauty found within their own lives. My vision is to promote the value of individual artistic expression as a creative refuge that encourages inner peacefulness."
Artists, especially those, who are often intimately in touch with nature, are able to express themselves in such unique and beautiful ways that we are gently transported just beyond reality. Carole A. Burval, TWSA, WHS is such an artist, specializing in luxuriant, transparent watercolors that convey her passion for painting “plein aire”. Breathtaking scenes inspire many of her works and she can often be found painting in our State and National Parks.
Carole A. Burval, TWSA, WHS paints a wide variety of subject matter but her passion is obvious in all of her work and also in her personal philosophy. In recent years she has shared her creative energy as a teacher in two private art schools and teaching watercolor workshops to various groups. She sits on the voting board for the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and continues to coordinate their National Transparent Watercolor Workshops.
Transparent watercolors have been the focus of Carole's artistic passion since 1991. Her previous training includes a double major in art and education at Northern Illinois University. Although primarily self-taught in watercolor she has broadened her studies with Gerald Brommer, Barbara Nechis, Cheng Khee Chee, Mel Stabin and color theorist Steven Quiller. She received her signature status from the Transparent Watercolor Society of America in 2000 after her paintings were selected for three consecutive TWSA National Shows. Her paintings have received numerous awards and are included in many public and private collections. In 2003 she received invitation into the prestigious Watercolor U.S.A. Honor Society for her moody landscape painting “Storm Clouds”. This painting received the Golden Artist Colors Award and a Patron Purchase Award at the WATERCOLOR U.S.A. 2003 National Exhibition.
